Chapter Philanthropy and Service
Beta Theta's annual philanthropy events:
Dog Dash 5K
Fall of 2016, Beta Theta had its first ever 5K! The Dog Dash 5K was held in Province Park in Franklin, Indiana on October 15, 2016. All proceeds from the Dog Dash 5k went to ZTA's philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness as well as to the Johnson County Humane Society.
Operation Prom: Donate a Dress, Make a Dream
This philanthropy event was another first for our chapter! Operation Prom is a prom dress drive where our chapter collects prom dresses from the community and from women in our chapter! After we collect the prom dresses, we take them to a local high school and let girls, who could not normally afford the prom dress of their dreams, chose one free of charge! Beta Theta collects prom dresses, and you can bring your dresses to the ZTA suite at Franklin College, to any philanthropy event, or you can email our chapter president at Taylor.Brown@franklincollege.edu to find a time or location that would work best for you to donate a prom dress!
Strike Out Cancer Baseball/Softball Game
In the Spring 2014, Beta Theta Chapter created a new event called Strike Out Cancer. The chapter sponsored the baseball and softball games where players, coaches, and fans wore pink ribbons to support those who have passed away, survived, or are still fighting. We made pink lemonade and took donations while having a corn hole game set up for anyone to play. We also had a 50/50 raffle. It was huge success and we will have a Pink Out Softball game in the Spring.
Pink-Out Football Game
For the past several years, Beta Theta Chapter has hosted a pink-out football game during the Franklin College Grizzlies' regular season. Come to the game and watch out for Beta Theta's passing out pink ribbons, selling 50/50 raffle tickets, hosting a silent auction, and accepting donations for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness!
Big Man on Campus
Each October, Beta Theta Chapter hosts Big Man on Campus (BMOC), a male pageant that raises money for breast cancer education and awareness. BMOC 2017 was a record-breaking year for the Beta Theta Chapter. The theme was based on the movie "Greece", where contestants competed for the crown of Mr. BMOC while sporting their best Greece-themed, slick attire. This year's BMOC raised a record-breaking $5464.92 for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. The chapter is excited to announce that they have begun planning next fall's BMOC. For next year, the chapter is focused on branching out and spreading its message throughout the surrounding communities, in addition to the Franklin College campus.
